"Henry Baugh and his wife, Fannie, planned to build a new house at Nix in Lampasas County. On 16 December 1882, Henry, Fannie and their two children, Elizabeth Eloise and B. D., were returning to Nix from Lampasas with a load of lumber for their home. As they started down the grade just past the Water's place, the load shifted and spooked the horses. Henry lost control of the horses, and eventually the wagon overturned, killing him. Fannie and the two children were unhurt."
Henry and Fannie were married on 16 March 1879, exactly 3 years and 9 months before his death. What a tragedy, a 22 year old widow with two children under the age of 3 and, it's less than 2 weeks before Christmas. She had to be a very strong lady to carry that load.
Fannie married again on 19 August 1886 to George B. Clem, who owned the gin in Nix. They had three daughters, Nolie, Katherine and Georgia. They were divorced by the time the
1900 census was taken.
