A little more than three weeks ago Mr. John N. Bauer in riding from his home in this city to a little farm he ownes in the suburbs, was thrown from his pony receiving an ugly and painful wound, which confined him to his bed. Before the wound healed he was attacked with a slow fever, and has been lingering along from day to day some times apparently improving, but in fact gradually sinking until yesterday morning at half past five o'clock when death came to his relief. Mr. Bauer was born at Dresden in the Province of Bavaria Germany, September 8th, 1810, and was married to Anna Barbara Roeder, August 16th, 1838 and came to Jefferson City August 28, 1845. Since which time he has been actively engaged in business in this city, and by close attention and diligence he accumulated quite a fortune. Mr. Bauer has long been one of our foremost citizens, the friend of everyone. He has raised a family of nine children; seven girls and two boys who with their aged mother are left to mourn his loss. The funeral service
will be held tomarrow afternoon from the Evangelical Lutheran church. He will be interred in the city cemetery We extend to the bereaved family our heartfelt sympathy.
