A longtime resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Plemmons was the daughter of the late Thomas and Arie Grant Battle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mitchell Plemmons, who died in 2005.
Mrs. Plemmons worked as a medical assistant and a homemaker. She taught Sunday school and directed the Senior Citizen Group at West Asheville Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Galyean of Spartanburg, S.C., and Elizabeth Poteat of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Bonnie Ingle and Dorothy Robinson, both of Asheville; five grandchildren, Deanna Poteat and David Poteat, both of Pittsburgh, Melissa Poteat Hupp and her husband, Don, of Austin, Texas, James Galyean and his wife, Jenna of Falls Church, Va., and Julie Anne Galyean of Wake Forest; and two great-grandchildren, Donovan Elliot Hupp of Austin and James Mitchell Galyean, of Falls Church.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Dr. James H. Johnson and David Tucker officiating.
Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
