Maneeta was born June 19, 1922, in DeSoto, to Clarence Elmer Batteau and Ellen Viola Elizabeth (Brown) Batteau.
She married Carl Smith on April 17, 1942 and they had three children.
Survivors include six grandchildren, one granddaughter, Beth and husband Bob Boester of Nashville; five grandsons, Carl Andrew Burk of DeSoto, Larry Joe Smith, Terry Gene and wife Victoria Smith, David Smith, and Wesley Owen Smith all of Missouri; eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She also had many nieces, nephews, and others who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Edward Smith, on November 16, 1995, two sons, Larry Joe Smith and Edward Dale Smith, one daughter, Carla June Hayes and eleven brothers and sisters.
Maneeta was a homemaker all her life and member of the DeSoto Baptist Church, DeSoto.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Josh Wehrmeier officiating. Burial will be at DeSoto City Cemetery, DeSoto. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the funeral home.
Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance, and may be made to DeSoto Baptist Church, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
