Joe A. Batson, 55, veteran Texas law enforcement officer, died Saturday afternoon in a Dallas hospital.
Batson recently came to Dallas to make his home with his son, Cecil C. Batson, of 1115 South Marlborough. He was a native of Madison County.
Among the law enforcement positions he has held were sheriff of Madison County for two terms, member of the State Liquor Control Board for four years and chief of police at Bryan for four years. His most recent job was warden at the Darrington State Prison Farm south of Houston.
Batson's other survivors are another son, Joe G. Batson of Canyon Randall County; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Massey of Fort Worth, and four grandchildren.
