Joan Carol Ruggiero, 70, of Floral City, Florida, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 9, 2012, under the care of Hospice and surrounded by her family in Floral City. She was born in a farm house in Exeter, Rhode Island, on April 19, 1941, to the late John A. and Virginia (Post) Baton. Joan arrived in the area in 1987, coming from Prospect, Connecticut, and was a bank teller. Joan was a current leader of her T.O.P.S. group and past Madam President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 3992. She enjoyed traveling and playing shuffleboard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ruggiero. Survivors include two daughters, Lori E. (William) DeBoskey of Brooksville, Florida, and Linda Joan (Kevin) Hugel of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one sister, Sandy Sewell; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012, at noon at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Inverness, Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory in Inverness.
