Nov. 26, 1968 Bemidji Beltrami County Minnesota, USA
Oct. 16, 2007 Bozeman Gallatin County Montana, USA
Angela and I attended Montana Law Enforcement Academy together in 1998.
Angela Kay Bateson, 38, died suddenly early Tuesday at her Bozeman home from complications of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. A native of Bemidji, Minn., she was born on Nov. 26, 1968, to Kenneth J. and Nancy Riggles. Angela lived in Castle Lake, Minn., Cass Lake, Minn., Grand Forks, N.D., and Belgrade before moving to Bozeman.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in history with a minor in education from Montana State University.
Angela married her husband, Robert J. Bateson, on July 19, 1996, in Bozeman. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Taylor Nicole Bateson; mother, Nancy Budreau; and sister, Daneane Budreau.
Her father and her brother, David Riggles, preceded her in death, succumbing to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Also surviving Angela is a large and loving family, including her father- and mother-in-law, Joe and Bobbie Jo Bateson of Bozeman; her brother- and sister-in-law, Chris and Stacy Bateson, and their son, AJ, of Bozeman; and Rob's grandmothers, Marilyn Bateson of Helena and Dorothy Rivera of Billings.
Angela devoted her talents and education to being a wife and mother. She loved to read and collect books. She also collected fine holiday decorations and made jewelry. She loved motorcycle rides, fundraising for school activities and being a Morning Star parent. Angela lived with her rare circulatory system disease with courage and grace and always put the welfare of others above her own. Her large extended family and many friends will miss her kindness, her love of life and her devotion to all.
The Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home at 113 S. Willson St. is in charge of arrangements. Viewing will take place at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Angela's life from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, at the Riverside Country Club with remembrances at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Ehlers-Danlos Foundation online at www.ednf.org or at the EDNF National Office, 3200 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1601, South Tower, Los Angeles, CA 90010.
