Ada Faye Bennett Bates was born May 27, 1915 in Pauls Valley, OK . She grew up in the Hughes community. Ada Faye passed from this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 95.
Ada Faye married William Lawrence Bates in Lindsay, Oklahoma on Sept. 30, 1934. They had sixty-two years of marriage until his death in 1996. They lived most of their married life in Lindsay, OK.
She was also preceded in death by her eldest son Cecil Eugene Bates and his eldest son, Jeffrey Eugene Bates, her parents George Gertie Bennett and Effie Jane Blair Bennett, her four sisters, Velma, Eula, Opal and Elfreda, and three brothers, Lee, Floyd and Cecil.
Ada Faye is survived by her three daughters, Janice Selzer, husband Robert deceased , Kathie Eldred, husband Rich, Linda Scruggs, husband Kenny and her son Larry Bates, his wife Mildred, as well as, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ada Faye was a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her family. She was hardworking and rarely idle. You always got a great meal at her house. She had a great capacity for enjoying life. She was always ready for an outing. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bates are set for two o'clock p.m. on Friday, April 29th, 2011 at the B.G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel located at 308 S.W. Third Street in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Bro. Bill Love officiating. Interment will follow at Erin Springs Cemetery in Erin Springs, OK. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
