HAVANA, IL - Raymond Bates, 75, of Hot Springs, Ark, formerly of Havana, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday January 6, 1985, in Hot Springs. Born November 14, 1909, in Havana to William V. and Zoe Peters Bates.

He married Virginia Burgett February 20, 1942 in Palmyra MO. She died in 1982.

Surviving are three brothers, William Bates of Champaign IL, Donald Bates of Fithian IL, and Robert Bates of Hot Springs Ark; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Bates of Washburn, MO, Mrs H. W. (Anne) Souther of LaHabra, CA, and Mrs. John (Miriam) Marikos of El Segundo, CA. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, until services at 1:30 p.m. at Hurley Furnal Home. The Rev. James Fedosuk will officiate.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
