Funeral services for Mr. Carlos Bates, age 69, were conducted Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at Higgins Funeral Home, and were conducted by Bro. Bob Leonard, minister of the Northside Church of Christ. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Bates died at his home on the Chenault Ford Road Sunday morning after a brief illness. He was the owner and operator of the Sun Rose Dairy for 37 years until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gaynelle Wright Bates; one daughter, Mrs. Jane Bates Beverly of Fayetteville; two sons, Mr. C. N. Bates of Fayetteville and Mr. Robert Bates of Ft. Myers, Florida; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Henson of Ft. Myers, Florida, Mrs. Jornel Howard, Huntsville, Alabama, and Mrs. Jimmy Ruth Ward of Detroit, Michigan.
He was the son of the late Charles Newton and Ethel Williams Bates and a native of Lincoln County.
