Funeral services for Mrs. Lavinia Slade Bates, 87, Leesburg Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Kennedy and Rev. Maurice Wicker officiated. Interment was made in the Leesburg Cemetery in Rankin County.
Mrs. Bates passed away on Friday morning in Madison General Hospital in Canton, following an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Leesburg Community and was a member of the Leesburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Paul Bates, Route 2, Morton; one daughter, Mrs. Rubby Lee Waltman, Route 2, Morton; one brother Zeke Slade, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Tenie Slade, Idaho, and Mrs. Hattie Jeske, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sam Wilson, Wayne Perkins, Hilton Thompson, Robert Franklin, Bernard King and Otis Wilson.
