Daughter of Philip Augustus/Spencer Field and Sally Hoyt Field.

She married Charles A. Bates July 2, 1841 in Monticello, Sullivan Co, NY.

Their children were Henry Lyman Bates, Joel Bristol Bates[married Mary S. Rowley], Alexander Charles Bates, Sarah "Henrietta" Bates[married Jacob Korb], John Campbell Bates[married Rachel E. Morgan], Francis "Marion" Bates[married Flora E. Carpenter], Isadore E. Bates, Charlotte "Edwene" Stella Bates[married William Trullinger Hanshew], Phillip Hamilton Bates[married Etta C. Stewart], Isabell Carolyn Bates[married West J. Morgan] and Gilmore R.A. Bates.

Four of their 12 children, Joel Bristol Bates, John Campbell Bates, Philip Hamilton Bates and Isabell Carolyn Bates Morgan lived in Oregon. Charles A. Bates returned to NE to visit family and died there in 1903 and is buried in Red Willow county at Danbury-Marion Cemetery beside his daughter Sarah "Henrietta" Bates Korb.

Children Henry and Isadore died as infant/young child. Son Gilmore Bates died age 12 and is buried near Shelby, NE.

Charlotte was my great great grandmother. Her daughter Edwene was my grandpa Chase's grandmother.
