Rodger Dale Bates, age 27, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Beaver City, died Saturday, October 14, 1989, at Maplewood Care Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Rodger was born May 14, 1962, at McCook, Nebraska to Ila May (Burton) and Verlyn Roy Bates. Rodger grew up in Beaver City and attended Beaver City High School. Since his accident on November 16, 1982, at Oxford, Nebraska, Rodger has spent his life in hospitals and nursing homes, with the past 4 years at Maplewood Care Center in Lincoln. Rodger was baptized into the First Christian Church at Beaver City.
Surviving relatives include his mother, Ila, of Orleans; brother, Randal of Collierville, TN; sister, Cheryle Bates of Kearney; two grandmothers: Mrs. Blanche Bates of Beaver City and Mrs. Edna Gano of Long Beach, CA.
Graveside services were Monday, October 16th at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery with Pastor Clark Bates of McCook officiating. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City was in charge of arrangements.
