DEATH: BELVA BATEMAN

Belva Smith Bateman, 81, our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home February 11, 1993, in American Fork, Utah.

She was born July 25, 1911 in Lund, Nevada to Heber Arthur Smith and Lilly Jeffery Burgess. Married Joseph Frederic Bateman March 31, 1934 in Alpine; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1992. Active member of the LDS Church, serving in various positions including: ward and stake Relief Society, Sunday School, Young Womens and Provo LDS Temple worker. Received a two year teacher's certificate from the University of Nevada Reno, and taught second grade one year. Owned and operated Belva's Beauty Salon for many years.

Known for her generosity, loving care and service to her family, friends and neighbors.Survivors include: sons and daughters, Merrill J. Bateman, Provo; Mrs. Fred (Beverly) Richards, Salt Lake City; Dr. Blaine S. Bateman, Alpine; Mrs. Stephen (Sandra) Hunter, Naperville IL; 22 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Malin R. Smith, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Irma Shippick, Murray; Mrs. Vonda Rasmussen, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Iona Hadfield, Lehi; Kay B. Smith, West Jordan; Curtis L. Smith, Pontenedra, Spain; niece Mrs. Glenn (Maxine) Roundy, American Fork.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 15, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork 8th Ward, 310 North 100 East. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North, Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services.

Burial in the Alpine City Cemetery.
