Mrs. Alma L. Bassman, 71, of 2034 W. Main Street, died unexpectedly about 8:45 a.m. Saturday at her home. She has been suffering from a heart condition for three or four years.

She and her husband only returned Thursday from a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Wright, in Woodville, Tex.

Mrs. Bassman was born August 22, 1891 at Aurora Springs, Mo., the daughter of Armand and Louisa Gilleland Ehrhardt. After Mr. Ehrhardt's death, her mother was married to Osborne Lee Moore, Jefferson City physician.

Mrs. Bassman has been a resident of Jefferson City since 1900. She attended Jefferson City Public Schools and was married Nov. 1, 1913 to Oliver Bassman.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, and the Emma Guhlman Circle; the Morning Music Club; Hawthorn Garden Club; Cole County Democratic Womens Club; and The United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by her husband and her daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Walter H. Bohling and Mrs. Vivian O. Cummock, both of Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at a local funeral home chapel, the Rev. Robert G. Herrmann officiating, with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
