Mr. Bassett is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Mello Bassett; brothers, Joseph W. Bassett and James Bassett, both of Secretary, MD; sisters-in-law, Margaret Lines (Charles) of Bermuda and Hilda Elliott of Great Britain; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Bethany Baptist Church, 410 Denver Road, Wilmington, DE 19804, where friends may call from 10:30 am until 12 Noon. Interment will be held privately in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
