Funeral services for Henry Tilton Bass, 94, of Meridian, were held Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Meridian First United Methodist Church, the Rev. William Sterling, the Rev. Henry Radde, and the Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Interment followed in Meridian Cemetery. Henry died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, in Meridian Manor. He was born Aug. 10, 1911, in Greenville, a son of the late Samuel Dennis and Ellen Lowrey Bass. He was a 1936 graduate of Texas A&M University with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Animal Husbandry. On May 27, 1939, he was united in marriage with Daisy Marie Hardin in Alice. The couple moved to Meridian in 1946. He worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Meridian as manager for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was active in many civic organizations, and served on the Meridian City Council, with the Meridian Volunteer Fire Department, was a charter member of Bosque Valley Golf Club, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Blue Lodge. He was a very active member of Meridian First United Methodist Church. Bass is survived by his wife, Daisy Bass of Meridian; daughter Karin and husband Joe Borman-Berg of Salado; son Kent and wife Janet Bass of Lewisville; grandchildren Tiffany McKeever and Jordan Bass; great-grandchildren Allie and Kate McKeever; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers were Fuzz Spitzer, Dub Wright, Tom Henderson, Marion Hensley, Ray Piner, and Cole Word. Honorary pallbearers were the Bosque Men's Singers, Ray Stockard, and Ed Williamson.
