"Mrs. W. C. Bass Dies at Home of Her Daughter
Had Long and Useful Life in Macon. Was Thirty-five Years at Wesleyan.
Mrs. W. C. Bass, 80 years of age, and widow of the late Dr. W. C. Bass, passed peacefully away at 11 o'clock last night at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. F. Burden, on Vineville Avenue with whom she made her home for the past twenty years.
Mrs. Bass was the daughter of James Blake and Ann Meria Nickelson, and was born at Greensboro, September 16, 1834. But when a girl, Mrs. Bass was converted and joined the Presbyterian church of which she was a devoted member until after her marriage to Dr. Bass, when she united with the Methodist church, in which, until her death, she exemplified in a marked degree the beautiful traits of Christian character.
During her thirty-five years residence in the Wesleyan Female College, where Dr. Bass was connected, she formed a large circle of intimate and endearing friendships among the teachers and students, many of whom still survive her and will be deeply grieved to learn of her death.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Burden, Mrs. Bass is survived by one son, William Glover Bass, of Lorane (Loraine?), and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren who, with hosts of others, will mourn her death. The funeral arrangements will be announced later."
