Deceased: BARBARA ELLEN BASNIGHT; Date: January 14, 2001
Barbara Ellen Basnight, 55, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Born in Hastings, Neb., she was a longtime area resident of Virginia Beach. She was a school bus assistant for the City of Virginia Beach for 14 years. She was a member of Charity United Methodist Church; The American Business Women's Association; and the Virginia Beach School Bus Driver's Association.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry L. Basnight; two sisters, Paula L. Camp of Virginia Beach and Rebecca Gibbs of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, Paul P. Leonard of Ocracoke, N.C. Ellen will be greatly missed by her many family members and dear friends and especially by her beloved pet, ''Duchess.''
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Bob Cooper. The family will receive friends today at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the Youth Center in care of the church. "
