|Death: ||Jun. 1, 1967|
Daughter of Zakar and Gadar Der Avedisian. She was born in Arapkir, Turkey and was named for her paternal grandmother Bilbil/Bulbul, the wife of the priest of the village of Mashgerd near Arapkir. Bulbul was the wife of Sarkis Basmajian and they had two children, Setrak and Ohannes. Sarkis moved to America in 1913 and Bulbul (Bilbil) left as well a few years later, probably because of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. It is not known if she was on the death marches or escape some other way, but she ended up in France and stayed there for many years. She lived through the German blitz of Paris and one story recounts her clinging to the side of her house during the bombing of the city. She later moved to Montreal with her son Ohannes while her husband and elder son Setrak lived in Philadelphia. At her death Bulbul was living at 5962 Park Avenue, Montreal, Canada. Her body was sent to Philadelphia to be buried with her husband. They share a grave with son Setrak and his wife Victoria. Bulbul and Sarkis's other son Ohannes was also brought from Canada to Philadelphia when he died and is buried a few rows in front of his parents' grave.
