MRS. BASHAW DEAD
Wife of Well-Known Grain Merchant, Who is Ill.
Mrs. Laura Thomas Bashaw died early yesterday morning from pneumonia at her home, 1327 Fourth avenue. Mrs. Bashaw had been ill scarcely a week. Last week she caught a severe cold which later developed into pneumonia. Until Wednesday her condition was not considered desperate. Then a turn for the worse gave warning of a fatal ending of the disease. She died at 4 o'clock Thursday morning.
Her husband, Mr. Horace Bashaw, a well-known grain merchant, is ill and the shock of his wife's death, it is feared, may seriously affect his condition. Mr. John Bashaw, the only child, is at his father's bedside.
Mrs. Bashaw was born at Grahamton, September 16, 1848, her father being John H. Thomas, a prominent iron merchant of that section. She was married to Mr. Bashaw about twenty-four years ago.
The funeral will take place from the residence this afternoon. Interment will be in Cave Hill cemetery.
Besides her husband and son, Mrs. Bashaw is survived by her sister, Mrs. John R. Pirtle of Louisville, and her brothers, Robert J. Thomas of Alexandria Va., and John H. Thomas, of Louisville.
