Bertha Alice Basham, 87, of Ellison Ridge passed away July 24, 2008, at her home following a long illness.
Born March 12, 1921 at Ellison Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Wills Okes. A lifelong resident of Summers County and a member of the Bluestone Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Basham and five brothers.
Survived by two daughters, Mary Hall of White Oak and Melba Basham at home; seven sons, Junior Basham at home, Benny Basham of Jumping Branch, Darrell Basham of Nimitz, Bobby Basham off Cook Ridge, Donald Basham of Nimitz, Harold Basham of Jumping Branch and Roy Basham of Jumping Branch; six sisters, Estelle Thompson, Mary Dorsey, Kathryn Dameron, Monnie Lilly, Pansy Ellison and Lula Belle Okes; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Bluestone Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Basham Family Cemetery on Panther's Knob. Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church on Sunday.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
