Lois Elma Basham Smith, formerly of Brandenburg, passed away on December 22, 2014 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY.

This special lady was born in Ekron, KY on June 21, 1924 to Elmer and Pearl Basham. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, J.C. Smith and sons Carroll Smith, Ronnie Smith and Gary Smith. She is survived by five children, Barbara Roll of Brandenburg, Gail Lock and Sharon Hamilton, both of Bowling Green and sons Michael (Sheila) Smith and Keith (Janice) Smith of Brandenburg. She was the loving grandma to nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Margie Chism and Sue Carol Rider, both of Brandenburg.
She was loved by many and touched the lives of all those who knew her. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John's Parish. She loved sewing, reading and being outdoors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday from St. John the Apostle Catholic Church with burial in St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 8 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday at Hager Funeral Home. Vigil services will be held at 6 PM Monday.

The family would like to thank her caregivers who lovingly cared for her every need, Laronda, Chrissy, Shauntay, Earlene, Gayle, Michaela and William, and all her friends at Morningside Assisted Living. Thank to Father Andy from St. Joseph's Parish in Bowling Green and all the helping angels from the Hospice House.
