"Mrs. Mylo Bartu Dies in California Mrs. Mylo Bartu, long-time resident of Scio, but has resided at Corvallis the last two and a half years, died Tuesday with week, Jan. 16, 1945 at Santa Cruz, California where she had been for several week at the home of her mother. While she had been too well for some time, her death came after only a few days of severe illness. Her husband, and their younger son, Gene, 17 went from their home at Corvallis, and the older son, Allen 19, was called from his location at a naval training station at Del Monte, California. Mrs. Bartu was born at Santa Cruz and spent her earlier live there before her marriage July 29, 1919 to Mr. Bartu at that place. She had lived the rest of her life at Scio until the family moved to Corvallis earlier in the war, in order that Mr. Bartu could be nearer his regular employment which he has continued the last two and a half years at Camp Adair. Mr. Bartu was partner with his brother, Frank in the garage bearing their name, here since 1919 until the war labor beckoned him elsewhere. The sons both attended Scio schools until moving to Corvallis, at which place Allen graduated from high school and entered Oregon State College before entering the service. Allen is now in naval radar study. Funeral services and burial were held this Thursday at Santa Cruz. Surviving besides the husband and two sons, are her mother, Mrs. Maggie Young, and two sisters, Jeanette and Joyce, and three brothers, Guy, James and Whit all of California. The sister, Mrs. Jeanette Siegel and husband were missionaries in Siam and were among the first load of citizens returned on the ship Gripholm"
