Merle Gene 'Gennie' Sims Bartram, passed away October 31, 2010.
She was born in Nolanville, Texas on April 19, 1926, she attended grade school in Belton and graduated from Killeen High School. Gennie worked at Western Union during her teen years and later moved to Corpus Christi to attend Durham Business School. She worked at a local bank for 26 years until she retired in 1985. Gennie loved gardening, yard work, and arts and crafts. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary with the Bill Roper Post 364, for 52 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Floyd Gene Bartram, and brother, E.E. 'Buster' Irwin and her parents, Emmit and Dessie Irwin.
Gennie is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Cliff) Pate of Corpus Christi, Linda (Jim) Miller of Emerson, Arkansas, and Barbara (Jerry) West of Corpus Christi, grandchildren Jake (Sudie) Miller and Jenny Sprayberry of Emerson, Arkansas, Heather (Wes) Oebel of Bainbridge Island, Washington, William (Lucy) Pate of Austin, Mandie (Seth) Smith of Sitka, Alaska, Justin Pate of Corpus Christi, and Bobby Berry of Huntsville, Texas, seven great grandchildren, six nephews, one niece and many friends.
Pallbearers will be as follows, grandsons Jake Miller, William and Justin Pate, Bobby Berry and nephews John, James, and Mitchell Bartram.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at Wooldridge Nursing Center and Odyssey Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Seaside Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
