Mrs. Opal M. Barton, 95, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, April, 13, 2010, at Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Barton was born Sept. 28, 1914, in New Ross. She was the daughter of the late Homer and Nellie (McIntyre) Arnold.
She married John T. Barton in September 1934, in New Ross. He died June 29, 1969.
Mrs. Barton worked as a cook at the Boone County Jail and at various nursing homes.
Her hobbies were collecting salt and pepper shakers, sewing, cooking, and she enjoyed her family.
Mrs. Barton was a member of Whitestown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Finley of Lebanon and Marilyn Sheets of Thorntown; two sons, LaVern Barton of Reno, Nev., and Jim Bob Barton of Lebanon; nine grandchildren, Scott Barton of Carson, Nev., Jean Ann Barton of Reno, Mike Barton and Debbie Lee, both of Lebanon, Rhonda Allen of Indianapolis, Lora Thompson, Lana Fairfield of Thorntown, and Larry Sheets and Johnny Barton, both of Jamestown; and 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Allen and Joy Dean; three brothers; and half sister, Pearl.
Graveside rites will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Mace Cemetery, Mace, Ind., with the Rev. Gene Johnson officiating.
Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
