Mary Ann was born March 4, 1935, in Pullman, WA, to George and Evelyn Schultz. Mary Ann grew up in Moscow, ID, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Moscow High School and attended the University of Idaho in Moscow.
She married Lewis (Ed) Barton on June 30, 1955 at Tucson, AZ, where Ed served as a pilot in the Air Force. They had two daughters, Carolyn Diane and Carrie Ann.
Mary Ann completed her teaching degree in 1972 and taught at Jefferson and Valley View Elementary schools in Boise, ID.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Carolyn and Todd Larson, and Carrie Barton; her great-granddaughter, Maddy Larson; her brother, Ray Schultz; and numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Shultz, and her husband, Lewis (Ed) Barton.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care given Mary Ann by Life's Doors Hospice, Garden Plaza and The Bridge at Valley View.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, with a reception to follow.
The family suggests donations to the Idaho Education Association's Children Fund.
