LANCASTER - Services for James Edwin Barton, 82, of 2491 Golf Course Road, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Douglas Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Peebles. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 1030 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Douglas Presbyterian Church, 2325 Sunday Place, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Mr. Barton died Thursday, December 6, 2001 at his home. Born in Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Thomas M. and Sara Ruth Caskey Burton. He had retired from Springs Foundry and Machine Shop, was a U.S. National Guard Veteran of World War II, having served in North Africa and Europe and was a member of Douglas Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School and was Elder Emeritus. Mr. Barton was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 and Hejaz Shrine Temple.
