Leroy Barton, 69, of Washington C.H. died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at 11:07 p.m. shortly after arrival at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Barton was born April 9, 1938 in Bloomingburg, Ohio to Arthur O. and Mertie Irene Millirons Barton, Sr. He was a 1956 graduate of Bloomingburg High School and a 1980 graduate of the Ohio School of Banking. He was a life-long resident of this community. He retired in Feb. 1992 from the Huntington National Bank with over 30 years of banking experience, the last eleven years as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors at the local bank. He currently was a realtor with Prudential Lewis & Langley Realty. Mr. Barton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Fayette Lodge F.&A.M.#107; 32nd Degree Masons, Valley of Columbus; Aladdin Temple Shrine and was a member and past president of the Washington Shrine Club. He was a memberof the Fayette County Board of Realtors as well as the National and Ohio Associations of Realtors; a member of Washington Lodge #129 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks; was a member of the Fayette Area Chamber of Commerce, had served on its board of directors and was chairman of the Christmas parade in 1965. He was a past president of the United Way of Fayette County and past treasurer of the Committee of 100 and a member of the Alliance for a Prosperous Downtown and the Community Improvement Corporation. He was a former member of the Washington Rotary Club; former member and past president of the Washington Lions Club; he served over 20 years on the Fayette County Agricultural Society and was past treasurer; had been on the board of directors of Hospice of Fayette County, Inc. and received an honorable discharge from the Ohio Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Barton; three sisters, DonnaBajai, Betty Jones and Nancy Lewis and his mother-in-law, Virginia Crooks. Mr. Barton is survived by his wife, the former Sally A. Crooks whom he married July 30, 1988; his children and their spouses, Beth Barton of San Luis Obispo, CA; Lori Lerum and her husband, Patrick, of Grove City; Mike Phillips, Ginny Wright and hr husband, Larry, Cathy Keller and her husband, Chris and Eric Eddy, all of Washington C.H. and Kyle Eddy of Alna, Maine; eight grandchildren, Cheyenne Douglas, Hannah Lerum, Haley and Harley Phillips, Brandon and Madison Wright, Adam Phillips and Trevor Keller; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur O. (Joe) and Patty Barton, Richard D. and Kathy Barton, Jack and Mary Barton and Benny and Debbie Barton, all of Washington C.H.; a brother-in-law, Larry Lewis of Circleville; his father-in-law, Robert F. Crooks of Washington C.H. and special pets, Jack, Abby and Rocky. The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at theKirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. with the Rev. Owen Stotts, pastor at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1-5 p.m. where an Elk's service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Childrens's Hospitals, C/O Washington Shrine Club, P.O.
