In abt. 1874 (according to the 1900 census), Nathan Henry Barton and Sylvia Whiting were married.

Item from the Riverside Press: Thomas W. Hodson, a restaurant proprietor of Colton, and Mrs. Sylvia A. Barton of San Bernardino, were united in marriage by Justice Holton Webb yesterday morning. They came over early in the morning, unaccompanied by any of their friends and the ceremony was a simple one. Mr. and Mrs. Hodson will make their home in Colton.

In the Apr. 19, 1910 U. S. census, 47 yr. old Sylvia A. Hodson, b. in UT., was living in a rented home on 10th St. in Colton, San Bernardino county, CA. with her
47 yr. old husband, Thomas Hodson, a Cook (and an employe) in a Restaurant, b. in
Sylvia's father was b. in OH. and her mother in NY.
This was a 2nd marriage for both Thomas and Sylvia.
Sylvia was the mother of 5 children from her first marriage, all still alive by this census.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Barton Hodson were held yesterday afternoon from the Mark B. Shaw Funeral chapel with Elder K. Dyal officiating and the San Bernardino Society of California Pioneers and the Women's Relief corps assisting. John Brown Jr. represented the Pioneer society, and the pallbearers were also members of the society, of which Mrs. Hodson had been a member for many years, She was also active in the W. R. C. work, having made her home in San Bernardino during the past 42 years.
Mrs. P. K. Neilson sang the beautiful hymn, "Oh, My Father" during the services.
Interment was made in the Pioneer cemetery with John Bessant, E. Williamson, John Driggers, Frank Holmes, Will McCrary and Miles Benson acting as pallbearers.
