A son of William E. and Mary A. (Leasure) Bartholow. After the death of their mother brothers George, John and Oliver are found in the Mount Joy Soldiers Orphan School. Their mother died sometime before 1880. He was married with Mary Alice Grimes. He was survived by his wife and these children: Mrs. Edward Lewis of Claysburg; Mrs. Howare Hite of Everett area; George Bartholow of Sheridan, Wyoming; Bruce of North East, PA; Joseph of Somerset; and Corp. Leo Bartholow with the U. S. Army at Camp Lec, VA. He was a brother of Joseph Bartholow of Cridersville, Ohio, and a half-brother of Sue Bartholow of Uniontown and Mrs. Harry May of Waynesboro.
