Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 23, 1998, at 7:15 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Rev. Gerald B. Kempen, 0. Praem, will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Alan was born March 29, 1929, in Two Creeks, son of the late
Calvin and Leilah (Havlinek) Barta. He was a life-long area
resident. Alan was a graduate of Washington High School, Two
Rivers, with the Class of 1946.
He married the former Grace Retzlaff on November 10, 1951, in Vesper, Wis. Mr. Barta operated their homestead farm in Two Creeks until his retirement in 1990, and remained active with his son, on the farm. He also worked at the Two Creeks Garage for many years.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Holy Name Society of the church, and served as Director of the men's choir of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4807.
Alan played for many polka bands, including the Two Creeks Farm Hands, The Jerry Volker Polka Band, and currently was playing with the Lee Rollin Polka Band.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters and one
son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, one brother, two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday at Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, until the
time of the Funeral Mass at 7:15 p.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m. at the church. There will be no Sunday evening visitation.
The Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, is assisting the family
with arrangements.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Alan's name for the
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Bell Fund.
A.J. had a strong love for the homestead farm combined with
his passion for music, whether it be playing in polka bands or singing and directing the men's choir. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A.J., we'll miss you.
