Birth.
William Barry, son of James Barry and Ann Barry, formerly Hampson, was born on 14 June 1882, at 34 Commons Street, Dublin.
His father was a Sailor.

Marriage.
William Barry, a bachelor, a Sailor, from 31 Commons Street, son of James Barry, a Sailor, married Mary McKeag, a spinster, from 1 Leland Place, daughter of John McKeag, a Labourer, on 5 March 1908, at The Church of St. Laurence O'Toole, Seville Place, Dublin.
The witnesses were,

The family were recorded in the 1911 census at 33 Mayor Street, Dublin.

William Barry
was a brother-in-law of
George Jones
who also worked onboard SS "Adela".

SS "Adela" was a defensively armed Merchant Ship that was enroute from Dublin to Liverpool. The principal cargo was cattle. It left Dublin at 5.00pm on Thursday 27 December 1917. It was sunk later that night at about 11.30pm, when 12 miles NW of Skerries, Anglesey, North Wales, by German Submarine U-100, with the loss of 24 lives.

The SS "Adela" was torpedoed at 11.30pm on 27 December 1917.
There was only one survivor, Captain Michael Tyrrell.
It is known that about 6 of the crew managed to get into a lifeboat, but later drowned.
Given their recorded date of death of 28 December 1917, it would appear that these men were Samuel James Burrowes, Patrick Corcoran, Alexander Donaldson, John Mackey, Frank Mangan and Andrew Walsh.
It is believed that four bodies were recovered later, but who they were, and where they were buried is unknown.
