CUMBERLAND- B. Carol Barry, 79, of Cumberland passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Allegany Health Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.
Born in Mt. Savage on September 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George Frederick Miller and Belva (Dunn) Miller.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence M. Barry.
Carol was a lifelong member of Saint George's Episcopal Church in Mt. Savage where she served for many years as the organist, choir director, youth group leader, senior warden, and past president of the Women of St. George.
Carol was a music teacher for many years at Mt. Savage School where she was well known for directing the May Day Program.
As an educator, she was a member of the Maryland Retired Teachers Association, Allegany County Retired Teachers Association, Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, WVU Alumni Association, and Potomac Valley Chapter of WVU Alumni and Friends.
Carol was also very well-known for her cake baking and decorating talents. Over the years, she baked many wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends.
She also shared her talents by teaching cake decorating for Bedford Road 4-H Club.
In addition, Carol was active in many community organizations. She was a member of Mount Savage Alumni Association, Mount Savage Historical Society, Bedford Road V.F.D. Firemen's Auxiliary, Maryland Chapter of 4-H All Stars, Tri-State Concert Association, Board of Directors of AARP, Goodfellowship Club Auxiliary, a life-long member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2883 Auxiliary, past treasurer of Frostburg Ladies of the Elks #470, musician for Cumberland Chapter of Women of the Moose #271, and a life-long member and past secretary of Fort Hill Band Parents.
Carol received a Bachelor of Science degree from Frostburg State College in elementary education. She later received a Master of Science degree in music education from West Virginia University.

She is survived by her daughters Carla Marie Kaufman and husband Thomas of Damascus; and Krista Ann Barry and Craig Beaulieu of Cumberland; cousins, Donnie Dunn and wife, Linda of Cumberland; Beverly Dunn of Frostburg; Diana Folk and Russ Pugh of Mt. Savage, Mina Uhl of Ellicott City; Sadie Koser of Cumberland, and Ellen Davis of Dunnellon, FL; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Linda Barry of Frostburg.
In addition, she is also survived by her life-long friend, Carolyn Monahan as well as extended family from Saint George's Episcopal Church.

Family and friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
The Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will conduct a short service in her honor on Tuesday, March 15 at the evening viewing. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. George's Episcopal Church in Mount Savage, Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Dept. c/o Debbie Barth, or St. James' Episcopal Church Memorial Garden Fund in Mount Airy, MD. Funeral services will be conducted at St. George's Episcopal Church in Mt. Savage on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Theresa Brion officiating.

Interment will be in St. George's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Dunn, Tom Barry, Jim Rice, Steve College, Sean O'Donnell, and Bill Seifarth.
