Judith was born 1830 in Foulridge, Lancashire the oldest child of John Barrett and Grace Knowles. On January 18, 1848 at the age of 18 years she married Ephraim Crowther. They had (7) sons, (3) died as children:
James born 1849 - died Feb 12, 1852 in Colne, Lancashire
Edward born 1854 - died July 1859 in Blackburn, Lancashire
Thomas born Aug 17, 1861 - died Jan 19, 1862 in Blackburn, Lancashire and buried Blackburn Cemetery.
When Judith was 20 years old her mother died in childbirth and Judith and her husband Ephraim moved in with her father to help care for her younger siblings.
When she was 30 years old her husband Ephraim died 10 days after their baby son Thomas Edward and both were buried in Blackburn Cemetery. By this time her father had died and she was still raising siblings.
Judith remarried, Thomas Lightbown and had (2) daughters.
Judith died March 14, 1901 and is buried in Blackburn Cemetery.
