CALVIN BARRICK SUCCUMBS HERE
Calvin Barrick, 81, who had lived in Mason City for the last three months, died at a local hospital early Tuesday following a month's illness. He had been in the hospital five days.
Mr. Barrick had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Harley Knapp, 615 Polk Avenue Southwest, since coming to Mason City. He was born in Polk County on 6 Mar 1860.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Methodist Church at Burchinal. Burial will be made in the Mount Vernon Cemetery near there.
Survivors include his wife, Ora; three sons, Clifford Barrick and James Marrick [sic], both of Mason City and Marlin Barrick of Thornton; a stepson, W. J. Riley of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. James Wilson and Mrs. Knapp, both of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A brother, James Barrick, of Brownsdale, MN, also survives.
One daughter, Mrs. James Kennedy, preceded him in death on 8 Oct 1939, as did another daughter in infancy.
