Worked in Clay mines, retired due to Black Lung disease, was an accomplished musician. Could play any instrument. Played semi-professionally. Had 16 children. Loved fishing and his grandaughter Donna Lee. He was a kind sensitive man, who loved his family.
David Johnson Barrett of Templeton died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday April 5, 1956 at Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the last 6 days. Aged 75 years, he was born in Washington Twp. a son of John F and Almira Jane (Truitt) Barrett. He resided in Templeton for the last 47 years and was employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories Co. before his retirement 20 yrs ago.He was a member of the Templeton Presbyterian Church. He leaves his wife Mary Blanche (Spicher) Barrett; six sons Clarence (Nuge), Leonard, and Kenneth (Toot) of Templeton; Thomas of Templeton RD#1,H. Lee of Kittanning, and David D.(Beans) of Hyattsville, MD and five daughters; Mrs. Evelyn Brewer of Schenley, Mrs. Idell Bigley of Springdale; Mrs. Cathadine (Kitty) Brewer of Leechburg, RD, Mrs. Yvonne (Von) Butler of Templeton and Mrs Vivian (Sues) Ulmer of Lancaster, PA. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers; Orris of Cabot, Lawrence of Tarentum, and Robert of Lafayette, IN and three sisters, Mrs. Betty Walker of Sarver, Mrs. Lillian Eudy and Mrs Lou McKinley both of Cleveland, OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mona, a son William L., three infant children and a sister Beulah Barrett and three grandchildren Shirley J. Butler, and Evelyn and Elvila Barrett. Friends will be received in Bauer Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Respects also may be paid fron 12 noon until 2 p.m. Sunday in the Templeton Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Charles W Cochran of Yatesboro Presbyterian Church.
