Barrera, Amelia (Millie), passed away and went to God the Father on February 23rd, 2013, having reached 89 yrs. She was born in Los Angeles on June 20th, 1924, grew up in Anaheim, Calif. and lived for many years of her life in Orange County and later in San Bernardino & Rialto area.
She was married for 47 years to Joseph G. Barrera. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia L. Phillips (59); and her son, Joseph M. Barrera (52); her grandchildren include, Jason Flores (40), Ronald Montoya (29), Annmarie (23), Joanne (15), and Joseph Jeremiah Barrera (11); Christal del Carmen Flores (12), Joseph Agustine Flores (6) and Jonathan Angel Flores (2); along with her two living sisters Flora Armenta and Matilda (Tillie) Howell. Other sisters that have passed on to eternity include: Raquel Gaona, Ana Gomez, and Julie Monjares.
She was a joyful, lively lady and a great mother. She loved her family dearly and took good care of her pets. She liked all kinds of sports when she was younger and often played tennis, went bicycling, had fun skating and went walking as she was able. She will be missed by many. We will remember her laughter, light-hearted humor, and her loving-ways. She prayed to and loved Jesus. She would hear and read scriptures, as well as be thoughtful toward others and pray for them.
We pray that she rest in peace until the Lord comes back. Maranatha!
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, March 7th, 2013 at Melrose Abbey Mortuary, 2303 S. Manchester Avenue
