Ada Mae Barr, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on October 8, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born in 1927 to Albert and Nettie Miller. She married Gerald Barr in 1946. Ada Mae and Gerald moved to California on a train with their 3 young sons in 1956. She enjoyed traveling in their travel trailer and being part of a camping club for many years. Ada Mae was a member of Sons of Norway in Hayward for over 30 years. She also enjoyed luncheons with Las Damos and Sirettes. Ada Mae loved playing cards, family get-togethers, and trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ada Mae was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church since 1956 and sang in the church choir for over 20 years.
Ada Mae is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Barr, her sons Ken Barr and Rodney Barr, her sister Irene Taylor, and brother Clifford Miller. She is survived by her son Dennis (Bev) Barr and her sister Donna (Ken) Lindeen, her grandchildren Ken (Montse) Barr, Jeff (Kris) Barr, Cindy (Jason) Boberg, Teresa (Shawn) Straume, Tiffany (Alex) Walden, and Shaun Barr. Great grandchildren Andrea and Marisa Barr, Zackery and Mariann Knight, Jake and Madison Boberg, Shelby and Trevor Straume, and Avery Walden.
A service will be held at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore on Friday, October 16th at 11:00am followed by a graveside service at Memory Gardens. A reception will follow at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
