Rev. William Barnickel
Rev. William "Bill" Barnickel, OFM, of Our Lady of the Angels Friary, Sherman, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Andrew and Elsie Biehly Barnickel.
Rev. Barnickel was a member of the Franciscan Province of the Sacred Heart for 54 years and a Roman Catholic priest for 47 years. He ministered in many parishes throughout the Midwest, was VA chaplain at Hines Veterans and Oak Forest Hospital for more than 18 years, chaplain at Marian Veterans Home in Marion, Ind., and chaplain at Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis.
Survivors: a sister, Elizabeth Barnickel of Homewood.
Services: Mass, 10 a.m. Saturday, Mayslake Village Chapel. Burial: Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
