Mrs. Alice Mae (Martin) Barnhart, 105, a guest of Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA, died at 6:10 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Church of God Home.
Born March 21, 1902 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clinton and Mattie Susan (Funk) Martin. She spent her early life in Waynesboro.
She and her husband, John Adam Barnhart, were married in Waynesboro, on June 15, 1921. Following their marriage, they moved to their 135 East Second St., Waynesboro home where they lived for over fifty years before moving to Carlisle. She had been a guest of Church of God Home since April 9, 1997. Mr. Barnhart died February 16, 1984.
Mrs. Barnhart was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro where she participated in Sunday School Class.
She was well known for the homemade doughnuts she made during the mid 1950's.
Mrs. Barnhart is survived by two daughters: H. Darlene Smith, Waynesboro, Nancy B. Dale, Greencastle, PA; two sons: Donald J. Barnhart, Ellicott City, MD, Paul L. Barnhart, Gulf Port, FL; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Erston Barnhart, two grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Rev. Richard A. Seaks officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
