Charles Edward Barngrover, 77, Lafayette, died Dec. 29, 1993 at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center where he had been a patient three days.
Mr. Barngrover was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Francesville. He attended Monon schools and had lived in Lafayette 50 years.
He married Jennie Marie Braaksma on Feb. 22, 1942, in Goodland; she survives. He retired as a boiler fireman at Purdue University in 1966 due to failing health. He formerly worked at Brown Rubber Co.
He was a member of Brown Street United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 1529 with a Fellowship Degree, Ray Gibbons Legion of the Moose 77, Moose Loomers Club, National Federation of the Blind, and during the 1960's was a Lafayette auxiliary fireman.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Jesse Barngrover of Lafayette and C. Leslie Barngrover of Francesville; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Service in Hippensteel Chapel Dec. 31, the Rev. Scott Moss officiating. Internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
