Albert Lowndes Barnes died on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2P.M. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chip Miller, the Rev. John Kinser and the Rev. Jim Shipley officiating. Entombment in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum will be private. Albert requested that his grandsons and grandsons-in-law serve as active pallbearers: Jeffrey Allen Dortch, Bert William Barnes, George William Barnes, Bryan Peter Barnes, George Henry Mahler III, Marcus Monroe Myers, Gregory Michael Corona, and Steven Joseph Bloodworth. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Canterbury Sunday School Class and deacons of First Presbyterian Church. -Albert was born on June 19, 1929 to the late George William Barnes, Sr. and the late Sadie Lillian Burns Barnes. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, chairman of the deacons and was an active member of the Canterbury Sunday School Class. Albert was the owner of Barnes Brokerage Company and spent the majority of his work life in the grocery business. Over the years, Albert served as President of Riverside Golf and Country Club and was a member of the Macon/Middle Georgia Senior Golf Association where he served as a Board Member and Vice President. He also was a member of the Dixie Senior Golf Association. Albert was preceded in death by his brothers, George William Barnes, Jr., Harry Frederick Barnes, and Charles Evart Barnes. -Albert credited his lifetime of influence to the grace of God and is now in Heaven because of his faith in his Lord, Jesus Christ. His love of God was evident in his lifelong, loving commitment to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. -Albert is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Betty Andrews Barnes; his children, Bonnie Barnes Dortch (Pete), Hawkinsville, George Albert Barnes (Naomi), Macon, and Matt William Barnes (Liz), Macon; grandchildren, Jeffrey Allen Dortch, Perry, Jamie Dortch Corona (Greg), Raleigh, NC, Kelli Barnes Mahler (Henry), Macon, Jill Dortch Bloodworth (Steven), Macon, Katie Barnes Myers (Marcus), Nashville, TN, Bert William Barnes (Anna), Macon, George William Barnes (Rebecca), Macon, Bonnie Leesa Barnes, Macon, Rebecca Nell Barnes, Macon, and Bryan Peter Barnes, Macon; and great grandchildren, Gavin Mack Dortch, Perry, Anderson Joseph Bloodworth, Macon, Sadie Laine Myers, Nashville, TN, Abby Olivia Corona, Raleigh, NC, Lillian Reece Myers, Nashville, TN, Isaiah James Bloodworth, Macon, and Evelyn Barnes Mahler, Macon; as well as his brother Wendell Wright Barnes Sr. (Betty), Macon; and 14 nieces and nephews.
