Daughter of William Henderson "Hence" BARNES and Sarah Elizabeth KESLER. Married 1. Charles B. MCBRIDE, 2. John Lindsay MCBRIDE. Charles died from a gunshot wound he received at a liquor still. After his death, Lula married his brother John. Mother of ten children.

Lula McBride, 90, of R. 5, Lexington, died at the Golden Age Nursing Home after suffering a heart attack. She was born in Davidson County March 17, 1881. She was a member of the Churchland Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Arlene Davis and husband, Frank of High Point, Flossie Barnes and husband, Glenn of R. 5, Lexington, Mildred Lanning and husband, John of R. 1, Linwood, and Gladys Carpenter of Baltimore, Md.; one son, L. U. McBride of Lexington; two sisters, Carrie Borland and Edna Fowler, both of High Point, 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Churchland Missionary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dale Martin. Burial in the Barnes Family Cemetery in Churchland.
