Marilyn Barnes Kohn, 85, of Walnut Creek, Calif., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, in Walnut Creek, Calif.
She was born March 9, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She married Clarence Barnes in 1946 and moved to Hanover. She and her husband owned the former Barnes Funeral Home. She was active in Hanover Presbyterian Church, Southwestern schools and the Madison Country Club, where she was a fan of golfing. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and entertaining.
She is survived by one son, Allan Barnes; one daughter, Melissa "Missy" Maeyama; one sister, Janet Ladner; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Barnes Kicklighter.
Burial was in Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, Calif.
