Mont M. Barnes

Mont M. Barnes, aged 76, of 359 Main St., Conneaut, Ohio, died in the Huron road Hospital, Cleveland Ohio, Tuesday of injuries received in a railroading accident. Mr. Barnes who was a yard engineer for the Nickle Plate railroad, was returning in his car, after finishing his work and was struck by a yard engine. He receved a probable fractured skull. Mr. Barnes was born in Jackson Center, Pa., October 12, 1879, he had resided in Conneaut for the past 45 years. He served as an ambulance driver for the Y.M.C.A. during World War I. He had worked in the Cleveland yards of Nickle Plate for four years. On November 9, 1898, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Miles of Youngstown, the couple marking their 57th wedding anniversary last year. He was a member of the Methodist church of Conneaut; the B. of L. F. and E. and the P.H.C. Surviving, are his widow, Gertrude Barnes; two daughters, Mrs. Weltha Meinke, Conneaut, O. Mrs. Irene Stranahan; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, J. G. Barnes, Conneaut, O.; Bruce Barnes, Mercer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Thompson Funeral Home of Conneaut with the body to be brought to the Plain Grove Presbyterian church for services at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will meet friends at the Thompson Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening.
