JoAnn was a graduate of Burke Catholic High School 70', Goshen, NY and Mount Saint Joseph College 74' in South Kingstown, RI.
She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Carey, Sr. at home; 5 children, Margaret Ruth of Slate Hill, NY, Michael Brian and wife Danielle of Thompson Ridge, NY, Joseph Robert and wife Marci of Amsterdam, NY, Brian Michael and wife Keri Lee of Otisville, NY, and Robert Joseph, Jr. and wife Mary of Ridgefield, CT; 6 grandchildren, Miles, Jensen, Paton, Thomas, Robert Joseph III, and Nicholas; brothers, Frederick Barnes and wife Tara of Rochester, NY and Mark Barnes and wife Julie of Chesapeake, VA; brother-in-law, Brian O'Dell of Mahwah, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Marianne Barnes O'Dell.
Her funeral service was held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
Interment followed in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
