Carol Broaddus Barnes, 60, of Lake Jackson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was born September 9, 1944, in Camden, Texas.
Carol was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Clute, was secretary of the Adult II Sunday School class and was active with Vacation Bible School every year. She worked for Dr. Phillip Crow, D.D.S. in Lake Jackson. Later, she was office manager for Dr. Howard Chapple, D.D.S., for several years in Lake Jackson. Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister. She was a very giving person, always thinking of others before herself.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastors Donald Hintze and David Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Restwood Memorial Park.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Lloyd Edward Barnes; son, Kevin Lloyd Barnes and his wife, Sissy, of Lake Jackson; granddaughter, Amanda Marie Barnes; sister, June Ladner and husband, Buck, of Lumberton and Shirley Williams of Clute; brother, Ed Broaddus and wife, Willene, of New Caney; mother and father-in-law, Maggie and Chuck Zelko of Clute; brother-in-law, Wayne Barnes of Angleton and his friend, Gwen; sisters-in-law, Janis McCoslin and husband, Lynn, of Brazoria, Lori Ludeman and husband, Donnie, of Angleton, Roberta Bishop and husband, Charlie, of Mesa, Arizona, Karen Summers and husband, Mike, of Fontana, Kansas; aunts, Betty Broaddus of Clute, Ginger Swarts of Fort Worth, May Mullins of Brazoria, Margie Stuckey of Lufkin, Louise Currie of Corrigan and Doris Durham of Corrigan; uncle, Travis Durham of Sour Lake; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Hilliard and Blanchie Mae Broaddus; and father-in-law, Aaron Barnes.
Pallbearers will be A.J. Jeffers, Larry Croxton, Robert Tipp Sr., Ted Broaddus, Ronnie Broaddus and Mark Broaddus.
