Son of Decatur and Josephine (Holbert) Barnes.

Abraham Oliver Barnes, aged 87, died at the Lincoln County Hospital Friday night, September 31, 1945, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were Held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Methodist Church of Fayetteville with Rev. Edd Christopher of Athens, Alabama, Rev. W. C. Morehead and Rev. H. R. Robinson officiating, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, a prominent man in Lincoln County, and well-liked by all who knew him. Surviving are eight children, four daughters, Mrs. Thad Smith, Mrs. Elmer Ramsey, Mrs. Tull Smith, all of Lincoln County, and Mrs. A. C. Anderson of Wichita Falls, Texas; four sons, Theo Barnes, Eugene Barnes, and Arthur Barnes, all of Lincoln County, and Woodard Barnes of Vernon, Texas; three brothers, W. H. Barnes and A. L. Barnes, both of Lincoln County, and Edd Barnes of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. John H. Ramsey and Mrs. D. H. Holloway, both of Petersburg; thirty-four grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
