Born to Mary Barnes 1823 Workington Cumberland England. His twin brother was Middleton Barnes. His mother married Joseph Peascod(Pescod) in Jan 1830 & combined the 2 families & in fall of 1837 they all came to America. It was then they changed their name to Prescott. They lived in the Pittsburgh area. He married in 1848 to Mary Ann Thomas and in 1869 he & his new family moved to Jasper County, Iowa. He bought land containing coal & was also a farmer. He is buried at Monroe Cemetery.
